How Moving Beans expanded internationally with Huboo

Moving Beans brings Nespresso-compatible, compostable coffee pods delivered directly to the front door.

The idea for the business came about when Founders Daniel, Mischa and Gemma read an article about the high levels of waste Nespresso capsules produce, which got them thinking about creating a better, more eco-friendly solution.

All entrepreneurs, with backgrounds in engineering, they put their years of experience and skills in material science to good use and researched novel materials to create what Moving Beans offers today – compostable coffee pods!

Available via their own online shop and Amazon, along with some direct sales into hotels and offices, the business has gone from strength-to-strength. There are now eight different coffee products in their core range, they ship across the whole of Europe with hubs in both Hong Kong and Australia, and revenue has consistently tripled year-on-year since its inception in 2017.

Like any successful eCommerce business, the fulfilment of the orders soon became too much for the Founders to manage. They were keeping stock in a garden shed, packaging each order up themselves and going back and forth to the post office each day, which was hugely time consuming and meant their focus was constantly taken away from product development, business expansion and marketing.

They came across Huboo through a mutual contact. Already working with a previous fulfilment provider which was quite expensive, not overly friendly and had a messy approach to managing customer relations, Daniel welcomed the chance to explore other options.

After discussions, Moving Beans moved over to Huboo. The transition was managed incredibly well and migrating their inventory and online store connections was a very smooth process. Allocated a dedicated Account Manager, Moving Beans has one consistent point of contact at Huboo who knows the business inside out and acts like an extension to their brand.

Due to Huboo’s incredible growth and expansion, both in the UK and overseas in recent years, Moving Beans has also been able to scale up and expand overseas effortlessly, growing its customer base outside of the UK without having to worry about navigating fulfilment logistics in different countries.

The trio have ambitious plans for the business over the coming months. They are working on product development and bringing in even better renewable materials, focusing primarily on the Netherlands and German markets, and are on track for an 80% growth in revenue by the end of the year.

They have also been great as we expanded internationally, particularly in other countries in Europe like Holland and Germany. Their customer service is also second to none – always quick and friendly, and really attentive and helpful.
