Huboo to launch first German fulfilment centre

We’re opening a new warehouse in Leipzig to help eCommerce retailers grow their business globally

We are delighted to announce that we will be increasing our fulfilment service presence in mainland Europe by launching our first German fulfilment centre, situated in Leipzig. This follows on from European launches in Eindhoven, The Netherlands and Madrid, Spain over the past year.

The German eCommerce market is the biggest in Europe, with 99.1bn Euro online sales revenue for the full year 2021, an increase from 83.3bn Euro in 2020.

This new warehouse marks the next step in our international expansion plans, as we establish new fulfilment centres across Europe; providing our clients with access to markets in Germany, Eastern Europe and beyond…

Why is Germany the ideal location?

  • To continue our expansion into Europe with the opening of a new, 10,000 sqm warehouse
  • The largest eCommerce market in Europe, with 99.1bn Euro online sales revenue in 2021
  • Provides our clients with access to the buoyant German market and a gateway to Eastern European markets and more
  • Germany is a particularly attractive market for online clothing retailers, tech and gadget sellers, and homeware merchants
  • Will create 250 new jobs to cater for hundreds of eCommerce clients and is our largest territory to date
  • The opening in April comes as retail sales in Germany enjoy post-Covid upswing

By accessing one of Europe’s most established eCommerce markets, our fulfilment centre can provide the perfect platform for businesses to grow…

A thriving eCommerce market

eCommerce in Germany has long been established as the biggest in Europe, with forecast online sales revenue of 104.8bn Euros this year, according to eCommerce association The market has also been outpacing other markets in Europe in terms of growth, including the UK, Spain and France.

The most popular products sold online are clothing, electronics and gadgets (such as mobile phones, ear buds and more), and homeware.

Our research into the market highlights that consumers value sustainable fulfilment methods such as eco-friendly packaging and paper-free picking, a complete returns solution and swift transactions.

Marketplaces such as Otto are popular with the German market, and should definitely be considered by eCommerce sellers looking to grow in Germany.

By setting up a fulfilment centre in Germany, our clients will enjoy direct access to this attractive and growing market, plus a channel into Eastern Europe and further afield.

Serving Europe and the World from our new warehouse

For our arrival in Leipzig, we have appointed a specialist team to manage the launch. The next steps are to hire a team of eCommerce experts and warehouse operatives to look after clients, as we gear up to becoming fully operational.

Huboo’s Co-Founder and CEO Martin Bysh said:

“Germany’s retail sector is making a strong post-pandemic recovery and Leipzig, as the gateway to eastern Europe, is a bustling city with good strategic transport links to Berlin and other key areas within the country, meaning that it’s the ideal location for us.”

Our European Expansion

Huboo kick-started its European expansion with the opening of a new 35,000 sq ft warehouse in
Eindhoven, the Netherlands, in June 2021 which created 200 jobs. This was closely followed by
its launch into Spain, with the opening of a 76,000 sq ft warehouse in Madrid in October 2021,
which led to more than 100 new jobs for the region.

With the imminent opening of our new Leipzig warehouse, there’s so much potential for businesses to thrive; giving unrivalled access to a strong post-pandemic retail market…

Martin continued…

“Leipzig is also thriving hub for logistics, supply chains, eCommerce, tech start-ups and innovative enterprises. This makes it the perfect fit for our unique business approach, which is driven by our leading technology and world-first Micro Hub model.”
